Care for the Poor

Care for the PoorAs Catholic Health Care leaders, we work to bring the benefits of Health Care to the poorest and most vulnerable members of society. Both the Biblical roots and theological vision of Catholic Health Care emphasize the importance of attending to the most marginalized people.

We direct and engage in:

  • Social analysis – on both micro and macro levels – that uncovers the systemic sources of poverty and advocates reform,
  • Urgent rescue work for those who do not have access to Health Care,
  • An assessment of attitudes toward the poor and sustained efforts to improve them.

We honor our founders’ and foundresses’ care for the poor as a major identifying characteristic of Catholic Health Care.
